My Louis Vuitton does not have that r trademark?

I have a little cosmetic bag 4x6 in the monogram pattern that was given to me 12 years ago and I was looking at it and the gripper tab says louis vuitton made in paris but there is no encirled r on top of it. I am positive it is authentic.....I hope...Does anyone know why it would NOT have the symbol???? Thank you...
